For me it was all about cataract surgery at the RANZCO annual scientific congress, hosted in Perth this year!

On 9th and 10th March, the Australian and New Zealand Cornea Society (ANZCS) held its first face-to-face meeting since COVID. It was hosted by Dr Andrea Ang and colleagues Dr Steve Wiffen and Dr Evan Wong, and the Manager of Lions Eye Bank Lisa Buckland.

The Australasian Cataract and Refractive Society (AUSCRS) meeting is a real highlight on the calendar. It attracts top international and local refractive surgeons, and is a fun and down-to-earth meeting with robust discussions between delegates.

It was very exciting to have the latest Schwind Atos femtosecond laser recently installed at the Lions Laser Vision. As part of our history of “firsts”, we are the first laser vision centre in Australia to acquire this laser. It performs LASIK and Smartsight lenticular extraction, and pairs with our Schwind Amaris excimer laser.
